  • WE ARE HIRING!!!

    Tue 11 Apr 2023

    Job description

Our lovely team at Hatch Warren and Kempshott under Fives Preschools are looking for a new member of staff to join our team.
Could this be you? We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, passionate, and hardworking Early Years Practitioner.

All we ask for in return is that you ensure the children are at the heart of everything you do.

You must enjoy reading books, with lots of interruptions and often while juggling several tiny humans, and take an active part in providing a fun, energetic environment.

Not two days are the same… you must be prepared to take on several roles; one day you might be a superhero, the next a princess.

Our children love messy play and lots of it. The mud kitchen is our favourite place to be, the children enjoy making mud pies and getting as messy as can be! So, you must be comfortable with mess, wiping children’s noses, busy days, as well as having your singing voices ready.

What we will offer in return is a fun, welcoming, warm, and friendly environment. We have a great team and we fully invest in our staff with plenty of training opportunities.

We offer pay scales, the more you learn the more you earn.

We are looking for practitioners with a minimum of a full and relevant Level 2 qualification in childcare, to start with immediate effect. First aid and safeguarding training is desirable.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am-3.15pm (Term time only)

Please contact us for an application form and full job description. Closing date for applications is Monday 17th April. Availability for an ASAP start is preferred.

Please email hwu5preschool@aol.com for an application form.

We are a charity run preschool and are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and equal opportunities in employment. All offers are subject to suitable references and enhanced DBS checks.

Work will soon be underway to revamp our garden at Kempshott Under Fives.
We are very excited to be adding new areas and equipment into the garden to enhance the children's outdoor play and learning experiences.

The new equipment includes a log walk for the children, a tyre area, fantastic new climbing equipment, a wildlife area and a construction area.

There will be so much to keep us occupied outside and the children have been working with us to create new rules for using the garden equipment to keep everyone safe.

  • Easy Fundraising Ideas

    Tue 22 Jun 2021

Hatch Warren Under Fives and Kempshott Under Fives are charity run preschools, so fund raising is vitally important to us - it helps us update and add to our toys and resources for the children.

Many of our fundraising activities stopped during covid, so we have set up a couple of easy ways that help us raise much needed additional funds. It's free and it's easy - and you could be helping us raise money each time you shop online...

Do you shop on Amazon? If you do, you could help us raise much needed funds for preschool.

    Simply login through: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Get Started” and enter our preschool name in the search bar. Each time you shop, Amazon will donate money to our preschool!

You can also raise valuable funds for our preschool when shopping online with many other retailers such as John Lewis, Sainsburys, Argos, M&S and many more… Just by registering with easyfundraising.

Easyfundraising is the UK’s biggest charity shopping fundraising site. It’s simple to use and it doesn’t cost you anything!

You could help our preschool so much, just by logging in to easyfundraising and going shopping! - https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/hatchwarrenu5s/

Once you've registered - perhaps you could spread the word to family and friends to help us raise more?

Every little bit helps - Happy shopping!

  • Thomas training for Kempshott Under Fives

    Thu 13 May 2021

Rachael, our Deuty SENCO at Kempshott Under Fives, has recently completed Thomas training, which is a comprehensive course for meeting the needs of under fives on the autistic spectrum.  This is excellent training for any preschool practitioner and we are delighted that Rachael can now bring additional skills into our own setting to enhance the learning of young children with impairments in social understanding, communication and play.

  • Congratulations Sophie!

    Thu 06 May 2021

Congratulations to Sophie from Kempshott Under Fives - she has been awarded her Level 3 qualification in childcare.

Sophie has worked really hard studying for her Level 3 for the past year, alongside a full time job at preschool and two young children, so we're all very proud of her!

  • Early Years Settings Open - January 2021

    Mon 11 Jan 2021

While schools and colleges closed again at the start of this new year to all but vulnerable and key worker children, the decision has been made by the government to keep early years settings open. So, Hatch Warren and Kempshott Under Fives remain open for all children.

Please be reassured that we are working harder than ever to keep preschool safe, fun and positive for our children. We have very stringent cleaning measures and frequent hand washing in place and there are no visitors inside the settings.

Please could we remind parents to wear face coverings at drop off and pick up times, stay socially distanced and please do not enter the settings.

The children are having great fun and are spending more time than ever in the gardens and outdoors!

For children that are staying at home for this uncertain period, we are posting lots of fun activities on Tapestry so they can still stay involved with preschool at home.

  • Staff news - Kempshott Under Fives

    Wed 16 Dec 2020

We feel really fortunate at Kempshott Under Fives to announce that Alison Cuss, our part time staff member and a specialist in Speech and Language, is increasing to four days per week from December.

Alison does an amazing job with individual and group work in speech and language at our preschool. Speech, language and communication are vital life skills for children and allow them to express themselves and engage in conversations, understand instructions and get the most out of their education and life experiences. During covid, many services for speech and language have ceased and face-to-face appointments have been delayed, which obviously impacts the children's development. Alison has been vitally important for us at this time to fill the gap from those services so we’re delighted that she is now with us for 4 days a week. If you would like advice or support on speech and language in your child’s preschool journey, please let us know and Alison will be happy to chat to you.

  • Exciting New Year Plans - Kempshott Under Fives

    Wed 16 Dec 2020

We have exciting new plans for 2021 at Kempshott Under Fives. We are introducing structured Tuesday sessions with some of the most popular activities we do throughout the week.

Tuesdays will be less toys and a specific focus on messy play, outdoor phonics and preschool yoga.

    • We have been doing preschool yoga sessions for some time so we already know the children love it! Yoga has many proven benefits for preschool age children, it helps children manage anxiety, it improves children’s emotional regulation, boosts their self esteem, increases body awareness and mindfulness, enhances children’s concentration and memory and helps develop strength and flexibility
    • Messy play is another firm favourite, not only is it great fun, it provides children with exciting tactile and sensory experiences which improves their curiosity, imagination and exploration skills and encourages communication and language development. It also supports children to play independently.
    • Every Tuesday we will also take an outdoor listening walk to help build our phonics skills. Phonics is so adaptable that it can be taught in a number of different ways and taking it outside can increase the children’s attention span and their willingness to learn. Learning in the fresh air, with natural light, smells and sounds has proven to be more enjoyable, as well as rewarding for children. In the UK it is recommended that phonics should be the first way to introduce reading skills to children.
