Welcome to HWU5's Preschool, a long-established preschool located in the heart of Hatch Warren. We are a charity run preschool and are conveniently located for families in Hatch Warren, Beggarwood and the surrounding areas. The excellent links to the A30, A33 and M3 also make us ideal for families that live a little further from our immediate catchment area. We are based inside the Hatch Warren Community Centre and have ample parking outside the preschool.

We welcome children from the age of 2 years upwards. We are Ofsted Registered and accept government funding as well as childcare vouchers. We also offer 30 hour funding to eligible families.

Our Aims:

• To provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment that will enhance the development and education of all children that attend our preschool.
• To have high expectations for all children.
• To encourage parental involvement within the group.
• To ensure the group offers opportunities for all children and their families, regardless of race, culture, religion, ability or means.

We believe in working closely with our families to encourage children to learn and develop whilst having fun at preschool. We communicate with our families on a regular basis through email, letters, face-to-face and via our online journal system, called Tapestry.

The children at Hatch Warren Under Fives Preschool learn through PLAY and having fun. Our practitioners observe the children closely, looking for interests, and plan activities based on this to make their time at preschool as enjoyable as possible.

Each child is assigned a dedicated Key Carer with whom they form a close and supportive relationship. All of our staff are committed and passionate about their work, they are all qualified to Level 3 or above and all are first aid trained.

Opening Times and Sessions

At Hatch Warren Under Fives children can start their day at 8:30am or 9am and be picked up at a variety of times to suit; midday, 1pm or 3pm. Afternoon sessions run from 12.30pm-3pm.

We are a term time only setting.

Ofsted

Our last Ofsted Inpsection was in October 2017… Our overall grading is GOOD but one of our areas, The Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare of Children, is OUTSTANDING.

The inspector’s summary stated, “Children demonstrate high levels of confidence, emotional security and self-esteem. Staff use excellent settling-in arrangements, such as home visits and group sessions, to help children get to know staff and the environment. Children develop secure relationships with staff, especially their keyperson, and build very strong friendships.” She also observed that, “Staff know the children well and plan a stimulating range of activities, which support their interests, learning styles and next steps in learning successfully. Children, including those who have special educational needs, make good progress from their starting points.”
