September 2020 - Happy to be back!
It’s been so lovely welcoming our children back to Hatch Warren Under Fives - it's been six months since we've seen some of our older children so it’s been very exciting seeing how they’ve grown and we've loved meeting our new children too. They have all settled in fantastically. Children and staff are all very happy to be back to the preschool routine.
We’re really impressed at how well the children have adapted to the new hygiene measures too, they are all amazing at washing their hands.
Our first few weeks are always all about setting in, building confidence and ensuring our children are happy. Our first topic “All About Me” is a great chance for the children to learn all about themselves, their new friends and their families. We have lots of fun using stories, arts, crafts and songs to help our children discover what is unique and special about themselves and each other.
We’ve had some gorgeous weather to start our new term so the children have been making the most of the garden and we've been on some wonderful outdoor walk across the fields and through the woods. Over the summer holidays the Community Payback scheme has been busy removing posts from the maze at Beggarwood Park, these were kindly donated by the council to one of our staff members who has transformed them into amazing planters for preschool. The children will be busy this year planting herbs, lavender and spring vegetables.
We have been doing lots of colourful things this month with paint mixing and science experiements about colour and we’ve been looking at shapes too. We also have our topic of Autumn to look forward to where we’ll be enjoying lots more outdoors time on some autumn “listening” walks and trips to the woods to collect sticks and leaves to build bug hotels and hedgehog houses.
